We’ve covered the top 10 every day carry items in a previous post on correctional officer gear, but in this post, we will focus on one of those items in greater detail and with a broader selection, and that’s correctional officer boots.
Correctional officers spend a lot of time standing and being active on their feet, so selecting a great pair of boots can mean a lot for your performance and prevent the onset of pain and fatigue in your legs and feet.
So do your feet a favor and purchase a pair of boots that meet and exceed all of your needs and will assist you in accomplishing the mission. The price of a good pair of boots varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but for the most part, the prices are consistent with each other. The old adage ” You get what you pay for!” certainly applies here. Some of the cheaper boots that do not appear on this list may last you from 6 months to 1 year depending on your usage. Some of the higher-end boots that do appear below have been known to last for 5 years or more.
There are a few top boot makers that produce some high quality, heavy-duty tactical boots & footwear and have been very well received within the correctional officer community. Below, we’ve compiled a list of what we think, and what the general consensus of correction officers consider to be the top 5 correctional officer boot makers that you should consider for your initial purchase, or a replacement pair when the need arises.
