The Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department operates five correctional facilities in the city of Miami holding on average 7,000 inmates serving out their sentences or awaiting trial dates.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must Have a High School Diploma or Educational Equivalent; General Education Diploma (GED)
- Must Have a Valid Drivers License, and a Florida DL prior to employment
- Must be a Florida Certified Correctional Officer; have a Certificate of Compliance issued by an accredited school of criminal justice in Florida from a Correctional Officer Basic Recruit program; or you must currently be enrolled in a Florida Correctional Officer Basic Recruit Program and pass the State Correctional Officer Certification Examination prior to being hired.
To increase your chances of been selected as a Correctional Officer with the MDCR, know that applicants that possess a Associates Degree are preferred.
